What is Intercom

--> Intercom is a type of phone line, combines the functionality of a traditional line and a speed dial.

--> The intercom feature allows a user to make an instant connection to another phone by pressing a single button.

--> Intercom allows a user to place a call to a predefined target. The called destination auto-answers the call in speakerphone mode with mute activated.

--> This sets up a one-way voice path between the initiator and the destination, so the initiator can deliver a short message, regardless of whether the called party is busy or idle.

--> To create an intercom connection between two phones you need to configure a single line ephone-dn for each phone.

--> These ephone-dns are then tied to each other with the command “intercom <dn>”. The parameter <dn> points to the other ephone-dn.

--> These ephone-dns are then assigned to a button on each phone. If you press intercom buttons on one of the phones, an instant voice connection is made to the other phone.

--> The other phone will play a beep and automatically answer the intercom call on speaker mode, with its microphone muted.

--> The user that receives the intercom call can turn the call into a two-way conversation by unmuting the microphone.
